Hi there! I’m Alexis, the hands and heart behind Little Kiddo.

My journey to starting this business has been a little different than most. I live with Narcolepsy which means a traditional "9-to-5" job has never been a reality for me, but as a mum I knew I wanted to build something meaningful that would allow me to support my family while working from home during the moments my body allows.

Call me crazy, but in a world increasingly filled with instant, AI-generated images, I chose to go the slow route.Every animal in this collection begins with a single dot. Using a fine-line pigment ink pen, I hand-draw each character using a technique called stippling. Instead of traditional brushstrokes or solid lines, I use thousands—sometimes tens of thousands—of tiny, individual dots to create depth, shadow, and texture.

Because I have to manage my energy and time carefully around my narcolepsy and my toddler, these pieces are a true labor of love. I might work on a single piece for a week, dot by dot, until it has the perfect "soulful" expression. I then add watercolour elements to bring a gentle pop of colour that feels modern and sophisticated.

I started Little Kiddo because I wanted to create nursery art that wasn't "too babyish." I wanted pieces that parents would love looking at just as much as their children do—art that can stay on your wall all the way through to the "big kid" years.

When you buy a print from my shop, you aren't just getting a piece of paper. You are supporting a small family, a real artist, and a mum who is proof that you can build a dream even when life looks a little different.

Thank you for being part of my story.

Much gratitude,

Alexis
